Jose Canseco Continues The Running Joke That Is Jose Canseco

by Jake Rossen (jrossen@sherdog.com)
He may technically be outside this page’s window of interest, but Jose Canseco has yet to make a decision in his late-onset combat sports career that doesn’t fascinate -- even if it’s for all the wrong reasons.
According to a news release circulated by something called the “Celebrity Boxing Federation,” Canseco is slated to face professional eater Bill “el Wingador” Simmons in “Celebrity Boxing 10: When Worlds Collide” July 24 in Aston, Pa.
Full Story
Any time there's potential that Jose Canseco is going to be brutally beaten like he pissed off Chris Brown, I'm all for it. But, I'm a little concerned about him becoming a "freak show" in MMA. If a new fan catches wind that Jose is dabbling in MMA and tunes in to see this Neanderthal lose brain cells he can't spare, what are they going to think of the sport?
I know the bout coming up is a "boxing" match, but Jose did just compete in an MMA match in Japan not too long ago. And he has competed in celebrity boxing matches(I use the terms celebrity and boxing both very loosely)in the past. With his new found affinity for combat sports, it seems that Jose is doing all he can to cash in on the public's growing interest in MMA, while simultaneously embarrassing himself in the process.

Brock Declares War On Mazzagatti & A Door
Let me start off by saying it's hard for me to take anything Brock says seriously with that sun burnt face. It almost looks like he had his eyebrows waxed off after laying on the beach all day. And speaking of missing facial hair, it did make me chuckle when he said he wants to knock the mustache off of Mazzagatti's face. If I remember correctly, Steve is sporting a clean cut look now a days, so someone might have beat Brock to the punch.
I really don't see why Brock is so upset with Mazzagatti; the stoppage didn't look too late to me. Then again, I'm not the one who was a few seconds from spending the next couple of months on crutches.
My gut is telling me Mir in this fight, and I'm definitely giving him the advantage in the pre-fight trash talk. He obviously has the edge in delivery and wittiness. Doesn't the WWE give their wrasslers smack talking lessons? Oh well, at least Brock's interview still had a scripted feel to it.
P.S. I personally don't think Mir's face looked like "Hamburger Hill", looked more like he tried to de-claw a cat with it.
